Router

A router is a power tool that cuts material using a fast spinning bit. Routers typically operate at speeds between 11,000 and 27,000 rpm. The router used with the handibot is a DeWalt DWP 611--it outputs 1.1HP and weighs about 3lbs.

Routers like the DWP 611 are typically operated hand-held, with the user either guiding the router manually or using a fence to guide their cut. Routers can also be used with trim bits that come with build in bearings that allow the user to trim the edge of a part consistently without worrying about cutting too deep.
